Chonburi Football Club adalah sebuah klub sepak bola Thailand berlokasi di Provinsi Chonburi. Sekarang ini, mereka bermain di divisi paling atas di dalam persepak bolaan Thailand, Liga Utama Thailand.


Chonburi FC adalah sebuah klub sepak bola dari Propinsi Chonburi yang tidak bisa dipungkiri dari klub sepak bola dari Assumption College Sriracha. Mereka pertama kali berpartisipasi di Piala Sepak Bola. Kemudian, klub bekerja sama dengan Sannibat-Samutprakan (Klub Divisi 1 dan dinamakan sebagai Chonburi-Sannibat-Samutprakan FC.

Di tahun 2002, klub bergabung dengan Liga Kepropinsian dalam nama Chonburi FC setelah dipisah dari Sannibart Samutprakarn FC. Klub mempunyai nama panggilan sebagai 'The Shark.' (Bahasa Thailand : ฉลามชล) Tahun 2005 mereka memenangkan gelar Pro League dan pindah ke Liga Utama Thailand di musim 2006 dengan runner up Liga Pro, Suphanburi FC. Kesebelasan asal suku bangsa Chonburi ini selesai di posisi ke-delapan di Liga Utama Thailand 2006.

Di tahun 2006, mereka diundang untuk bermain di Piala Singapura dan mereka berhasil mencapai ke final, mengalahkan tim lokal Home United FC, Albirex Niigata FC dan Balestier Khalsa di sepanjang jalannya. Di final, mereka kalah 2 – 3. Di tambahan waktu setelah memimpin 2 – 0.

Di tahun 2007, mereka diundang lagi untuk berpartisipasi di Piala Singapura, namun mereka dikalahkan di babak pertama melawan Balestier Khalsa, dalam ulangan dari semi-final musim lalu. Chonburi FC kalah 3 – 2 dalam pertandingan reguler. Mereka telah membentuk hubungan dengan Manchester City F.C..

Calon lawan Persipura Jayapura di perempat-final Piala AFC akan ditentukan, Selasa [7/6], setelah induk organisasi sepakbola Asia ini direncanakan melakukan drawing di markas AFC di Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Drawing perempat-final ini akan disiarkan langsung melalui live streaming di laman resmi AFC mulai pukul 14.00 WIB. Setelah Piala AFC, dilanjutkan dengan drawing Liga Champions Asia.

Selain Persipura, tujuh tim lainnya yang lolos ke perempat-final Piala AFC itu adalah Duhok dan Arbil [Irak], Chonburi FC dan Muang Thong [Thailand], Nasaf [Uzbekistan], Al Wehdat [Yordania], dan Kuwait SC [Kuwait].

Leg pertama perempat-final Piala AFC akan dilaksanakan pada 13 September mendatang, dan leg kedua digelar pada 27 September. Sedangkan pertandingan leg pertama semi-final dijadwalkan pada 4 Oktober dan leg kedua dilakukan 18 Oktober. Sementara laga final dilangsungkan pada 29 Oktober 2011.

Perjuangan untuk merebut 4 tiket otomatis di Piala Dunia 2014 dan satu tiket playoff akan dimulai pada 29 Juni dan 3 Juli 2011. Di putaran pertama ini, 16 tim di unggulan pertama akan saling bertemu kandang dan tandang.

Kemudian, 15 tim pemenang akan bergabung dengan lima tim unggulan pertama. Ke-20 tim akan dibagi menjadi lima grup berisikan empat tim di putaran ketiga. Pertandingan di putaran ketiga akan berlangsung dari 2 September 2011 hingga 9 Februari 2012.

Dua tim teratas dari babak grup di putaran ketiga akan melaju ke putaran keempat. 10 tim ini akan kembali dibagi menjadi dua grup berisikan lima tim. Dua tim teratas di masing-masing grup berhak mendapatkan empat tiket di Piala Dunia 2014.

Jika Jepang melaju ke putaran keempat, mereka akan ditempatkan di posisi kelima di grupnya agar tidak bermain pada 18 Juni 2013 untuk memfasilitasi partisipasi tim Samurai Biru di Piala Konfederesi di Brasil pada 16-30 Juni 2013.

Dua tim di posisi ketiga pada putaran keempat akan saling bertemu di putaran kelima guna mendapatkan satu tiket melalui playoff inter-continental.

Kuala Lumpur: AFC has announced the qualification format for the 2014 FIFA World Cup Asian qualifiers on Wednesday.




Forty-three teams have entered the fray to grab four automatic and an inter-continental playoff berths.

In the first round, the 16 lowest ranked teams will be divided into eight groups for home-and-away matches on June 29 and July 3, 2011.

Eight winners from the first round will join 22 higher ranked teams in the second round where the teams will be divided into 15 groups for home-and-away matches on July 23 and 28.

The 15 winners from the second round will join top five direct entrants in the third round where they will be divided into five groups of four teams each.

The top two teams from each group will make it to Round 4. The third round will be played from September 2, 2011, to February 29, 2012.

The 10 qualified teams in the fourth round will be divided into two groups of five teams each and top two teams from each group will gain automatic berths in the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil.

If Japan make it to the fourth round, they will be placed on Position 5 in their group in order not to play on June 18, 2013, to felicitate their participation in the FIFA Confederations Cup to be held from June 16 to 30, 2013.

Two third-placed teams will play in Round 5 to determine Asia’s representative in the inter-continental playoff.

The fourth round will be played from June 3, 2012, to June 18, 2013, while the playoff between the third-placed teams will be played on September 6 and 10, 2013.

The inter-continental playoff will be played on October 15 and November 19, 2013.

The seeding for the draw, to be held on March 30, will be based on the rankings from 2010 FIFA World Cup and its Asian qualifiers.

Teams ranked from 1-5 will participate in the qualifiers from Round 3, teams ranked 6-27 (22 teams) will participate from Round 2 and the teams ranked 28-43 (16) will play the first round.

Japan brace for tough Arabic rivals

Japan are taking nothing for granted at the Asian Cup after their best-ever FIFA World Cup™ on foreign soil, as Middle East rivals line up to spoil the Blue Samurai's bid to regain the continental title. Japan bowed to fellow three-time champions Saudi Arabia 3-2 in the 2007 Asian Cup semi-finals, failing to lift a third straight title, and now the two giants are grouped together with Jordan and Syria in Qatar.

Despite a run of warm-up defeats, the Blue Samurai reached the FIFA World Cup last-16 in South Africa in June when North Korea, South Korea and Australia - but none of West Asian powerhouses - also represented the continent.

"We are aiming high as a matter of course," Japan coach Alberto Zaccheroni said, citing the country's FIFA World Cup feat and their triumphs in both men's and women's tournaments at the Asian Games in November. But the former AC Milan boss admitted: "I expect tremendous battles ahead.

"Australia and South Korea may headline the tournament," he said. "But I feel that teams from the Middle East will be quite formidable as they can fight in conditions quite close to home."

In their opening game on 9 January, Japan face Jordan, whom they narrowly defeated 4-3 on penalties in the 2004 Asian Cup quarter-finals before going on to beat hosts China for the trophy.

Zaccheroni, who had never coached a national team or foreign club before joining Japan, got off to a convincing start after taking over from homegrown World Cup boss Takeshi Okada. With the 57-year-old Italian in charge for the first time, Japan upset a full-strength Argentina 1-0 at home and fought to a scoreless draw away with cross-strait rivals South Korea in friendlies in October.

"Going out with this line-up, we should not fear any opponent," Zaccheroni said as he called up eight Europe-based players, including CSKA Moscow midfielder Keisuke Honda and Borussia Dortmund rookie Shinji Kagawa.

Honda scored in Japan's wins over Cameroon and Denmark at the FIFA World Cup. Japan bowed to the Netherlands 1-0 in the other group match and missed a quarter-final spot by a penalty shootout loss to Paraguay. Kagawa, 21, has attracted European clubs by scoring eight goals in the first half of the Bundesliga season after moving from J-League side Cerezo Osaka.

"The Asian Cup will be a tournament where we will demonstrate how much we have improved after the World Cup," said Honda, known for his aggressive play and straight-talking approach. "Of course, there is only one thing we aim for," said the 24-year-old, who has always vowed to go for the title in any tournament.

Zaccheroni though will be missing World Cup centre-backs Yuji Nakazawa and Marcus Tulio Tanaka through knee injuries, something he called a "great blow". But Cesena's Yuto Nagatomo, Atsuto Uchida of Schalke and Maya Yoshida of VVV Venlo are ready to guard the Samurai's backline.

"The history of Japanese football won't end at the Asian Cup. I want to use as many young players as possible to prepare well for the 2014 World Cup," said the Italian.

This exorbitant amount of money has paid for the construction of half-a-dozen new sports stadiums, countless citywide beautification projects, the relaying of major roads and two new extensive subway lines, as well as a ferocious education campaign instructing the citizens of Guangzhou about acting in a more 'civilized way' when the games start.
Make no mistake though; the investment is just about worth it. Despite the 2008 Olympic Games being almost entirely written off by the government the infrastructure and projects create in the lead up to that event have left a lasting impact on Beijing well after the carnival had packed up and moved on. Many of the most important marks left on Beijing are the things that have gone unseen; the planting of thousands of acres of trees in the deserts of Northern China have made sandstorms in the capital less frequent, the restrictions on driving cars on certain days of the week has reduced emissions in the capital has reduced emissions by 20% and even the block-by-block campaign to make Beijingers less Chinese and more compatible with foreign cultures (that includes at least trying to line up) has left a seemingly indelible albeit limited trace, not to mention the major capital works like new subway lines that residents now enjoy.

Assumptions:

- AFC will again have 4.5 spots

The July 2011 FIFA ranking will include matches played between July 2007 and July 2011. We already have the "0.2" part (matches played between July 2007 and July 2008) and the "0.3" part (matches played between July 2008 and July 2009) - that's 25% of the formula. A lot can and will change before July 2011 as there are many matches to be played involving Asian teams: 2010 FIFA World Cup, 2011 Asian Cup and plenty of friendlies.

This is the July 2011 ranking (for AFC only) using matches played up to and including March 21st, 2010 and matches scheduled up to July 2010 (only those on fifa.com).

Para pesepakbola itu gabungan dari wajah lama dan pemain baru, termasuk Bambang. Dan, hal ini dibenarkan oleh Asisten Pelatih Timnas, Wolfgang Pikal, yang dihubungi wartawan di Jakarta, Rabu (11/8), bahwa Bambang dipanggil kembali.

Indonesia, under the name Dutch East Indies, was the first Asian team to participate in the World Cup when they qualified to the 1938 tournament. A 6-0 first-round loss in Reims to eventual finalists Hungary remains the country's only appearance in the World Cup.

In 1958, the team tasted their first World Cup action as Indonesia in the qualifying rounds. They got past China in the first round, but subsequently refused to play their next opponents Israel. The team suffered a long hiatus from FIFA World Cup since 1958 due to an unfavourable political situation - both internally and externally. It was only in 1974 that Indonesia returned to the fold.

Indonesia's first appearance in the AFC Asian Cup was in the United Arab Emirates in 1996, Indonesia only gained one point from a draw against Kuwait in the first round. Their second appearance in Asian Cup was in Lebanon in 2000; again, Indonesia gained only one point from three games. Indonesia performed better in the 2004 AFC Asian Cup, beating Qatar 2-1 to record their first ever victory in the Asian Cup; unfortunately this was not enough to qualify for the second round. In 2007, they were the co-host of the tournament. They defeated Bahrain 2-1 in their opening match, but lost their last two ties against Asian giants Saudi Arabia and South Korea and finished third in the group and failed to reach the quarter-finals. Nevertheless, their 2007 AFC Asian Cup performance is considered as their best performance in the tournament.

Indonesia has yet to win the regional Tiger Cup, despite reaching the final three times (2000, 2002, and 2004). Their only continental titles came in the 1987 and 1991 Southeast Asian Games. A group win in the 2004 Asian Cup tournament, their first ever in that competition, may signal a rise in the side's stature on the Asian football scene. Under the guidance of former Aston Villa and England striker Peter Withe, the South-East Asian outfit looked set to continue their success in terms of football development and in the FIFA World Rankings. However on January 18, 2007, Withe was sacked due to their first round exit from the ASEAN Football Championship and replaced by Ivan Venkov Kolev. Recently Benny Dollo was appointed as the new head coach after Ivan Venkov Kolev was sacked due to the team's poor performance at the 2010 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers.

The 1998 ASEAN Football Championship tournament was one of particular controversy in regards to the Indonesian team. This tournament was marred by an unsportsmanlike match between Thailand and Indonesia during the group stage of the competition. Both teams were already assured of qualification for the semi-finals, but both teams knew that the winners of the game would face hosts Vietnam in the semi-finals, while the losing team would face Singapore who were perceived to be easier, and would avoid the fuss of moving training bases from Ho Chi Minh City to Hanoi for the semi-final. The first half saw little action, with both teams barely making an attempt to score. During the second half both teams managed to score, partly thanks to half-hearted defending, resulting in a 2–2 tie after 90 minutes. Then, during extra time, Indonesian defender Mursyid Effendi deliberately kicked the ball into his own goal, despite the Thais attempts to stop him doing so, thus handing Thailand a 3-2 victory. Both teams were fined for "violating the spirit of the game" and Mursyid Effendi was banned from football for life.

In the semi-finals, Thailand lost to Vietnam, and Indonesia also lost to Singapore. Thailand would go on to lose the third place game to Indonesia in a penalty shootout. skipper Park Ji-Sung scored an early goal as Korea Republic beat local rivals Japan 2-0 on Monday in a FIFA World Cup™ warm-up match in Saitama.
Park needed only six minutes to open the scoring when the Manchester United midfielder surged down the middle before firing home from the edge of the area.
Substitute forward Park Chu-Young added a penalty in second-half stoppage time to seal the win, with both teams hoping to avoid a repeat of four years ago, when they each crashed out in the group stages of the FIFA World Cup.
"My players never lost their nerve in this sell-out stadium and concentrated very well until the end. I think that is the key to the victory," said Korean coach Huh Jung-Moo. "My players played their own play until the end. I'm happy about it. But we must improve further our counter-attacks, we need to do it more sharply."
Huh singled out Park Chu-Young for special praise after the Monaco hitman won the penalty -- felled by home goalkeeper Seigo Narazaki -- that he duly dispatched in the dying minutes. "I was just disappointed that I didn't send Park Chu-Young onto the pitch earlier," Huh added.
The pressure will now be firmly on Japan coach Takeshi Okada after this latest poor showing from his charges, who also lost to Korea Republic at home earlier in the year in the East Asian Championships.

"My players did their best but I feel sorry for the fans that we lost to South Korea twice this year," said a dejected Okada, whose side goes up against Cameroon, the Netherlands and Denmark in Group E in South Africa.
"We needed the result but we couldn't get it and I feel responsible for that," said Okada. "We lost an early goal but I thought we would have some chances. However, we lost a penalty to give an unnecessary goal in the end."
In a game of few chances, Japan's best opportunity in the first-half came in the 20th minute when Vissel Kobe forward Yoshito Okubo shot wide, while CSKA Moscow midfielder Keisuke Honda's shot was saved by keeper Jung Sung-Ryong.
Huh changed his forward line at the interval to Park Chu-Young and Kim Nam-Il, but the visitors rarely looked like adding to their lead as the game threatened to peter out.
As they chased an equaliser, Okada sent on Catania striker Takayuki Morimoto to replace the struggling Shunsuke Nakamura. And Morimoto had a chance to score, but his sizzling shot in the 77th minute was saved.
Korea Republic take on Greece, Argentina and Nigeria in Group B at next month's FIFA World Cup finals.
