Famous Cell Phone - The Apple iPhone
Friday, June 3, 2011Famous Cell Phone - The Apple iPhone
By Praba Kar
Apple iphone is a black device that is nearly featureless on the front except the dock and a couple of other buttons. On the bottom is what appears to be a standard dock. The most remarkable feature of the iPhone is the display, which I hear is breathtaking as it emerges from behind what appears to be black plastic. The whole front, with exception to a couple of millimeters along the edges of the iPhone, is touch sensitive and allows the customer to select from objects on the screen, such as the phone's keyboard. This feature was widely described for the nebulous full screen iPod and will instead be found in the iPhone. It was the patents that were acquired for the iPhone that started that speculation.
Apple iphone will come with a very large feature set. The first thing that attracted my attention was the fact that it will be running a version of Apple's very popular and easy-to-use Mac OS X. The iPhone is able to multi task so you can read your email while a file is downloading from the Internet.
Apple iphone's the large hires color screen, which can be used in portrait or landscape mode (the mode changes with the orientation of the phone), covers most of the phone's front and the interface is entirely finger-touch-based. This frees the iPhone from a set of fixed buttons and allows it to morph into one or another device by presenting a different user interface for each function or application. Apple iphone's multi touch capability lets you use multiple fingers to zoom in and out of pictures, scroll menus, dial numbers, and more.
The mobile market is flooded with multi purpose wireless phones known as smart phones. Among the major players are Motorola, Samsung and Research In Motion with its ever popular Blackberry. Smart phones let you make standard phone calls and access images, audio files, videos, email, office files and contact lists as well as the Internet. Please purchase on online

FaceTime. Phone calls like you've never seen before.
Thursday, January 13, 2011One-tap simple.
FaceTime works right out of the box — no need to set up a special account or screen name. And using it is as easy as it gets. Let’s say you want to start a video call with your best friend. Just find her entry in your Contacts and tap the FaceTime button. Or maybe you’re already talking on a voice call with her, iPhone 4 to iPhone 4, and you want to switch to video. Just tap the FaceTime button on the screen. Either way, an invitation pops up on her screen asking if she wants to join you. When she accepts, the video call begins. It’s all perfectly seamless. And it works in both portrait and landscape modes. Two cameras made for video calling.
Share what you see with the back camera.
Imagine your sister is away at school and can’t make it to your son’s birthday. So you’re cheering her up with a FaceTime call. As the cupcakes come out, your son’s eyes light up, and you just have to share it. Tap a button, and before you can say, “Make a wish,” iPhone 4 switches to the back camera, and to the birthday boy's big moment. Another tap switches back to the front camera and to you. iPod...iPhone...now, iPad
iphone or ipadSAN FRANCISCO: Apple, trying to expand beyond the Macintosh, iPod and iPhone, introduced a tablet computer with a touch screen, Web browser and e-mail functions.
The iPad can display full Web pages and has a touch-screen keyboard that’s almost full size, chief executive officer Steve Jobs said late on Wednesday night at a company event in San Francisco. The iPad supports Wi-Fi communications and runs the more than 140,000 applications already available for the iPhone and iPod Touch.
The iPad is “so much more intimate than a laptop, so much more capable than a smartphone,” Jobs said. The device, which has a 9.7-inch screen, is half an inch thick and weighs 0.7 kg, he said.
Jobs, 54, has spent the past decade transforming the maker of the Mac personal computer into a consumer-electronics juggernaut. The iPad builds on the digital media and mobile technology behind Apple’s market-leading iPod players and the iPhone, and will challenge dedicated e-book readers from Amazon.com Inc and Sony Corp.
Apple, based in Cupertino, California, fell $2.76 to $203.18 at 1:40 pm New York time in Nasdaq Stock Market trading. The shares, which more than doubled last year, rose to a record $215.04 earlier this month on anticipation of the new gadget.
Apple investors typically run up the stock ahead of product events and then sell on the news, said Gene Munster, an analyst at Piper Jaffray & Co in Minneapolis.
Apple Chip
The device, made of aluminum and glass, can display maps from Google Inc., and has calendar and address book functions. It also lets users display thumbnail views of photos. The iPad has a 1-gigahertz Apple chip and battery life of 10 hours, Jobs said.
“My question is how big of a market this is, and it’s probably reasonably big,” said Michael Yoshikami, an analyst at Walnut Creek, California-based YCMNet Advisors. “I’m still getting my hands around how many people are going to want something of this size.”

iPhone 4 major leap on iPhone 3GS
'iPhone 4 major leap on iPhone 3GS'
Bloomberg, Jun 24, 2010, 11.46am IST
NEW YORK: Wall Street Journal columnist Walt Mossberg called the iPhone a 'major leap' over 'its already-excellent predecessor'.
Apple Inc's iPhone 4 will "dazzle" consumers with its thinner redesign, "radically" sharper screen, higher-resolution front-facing camera and updated operating system, reviewers said.
The iPhone 4 feels "denser and tighter" than the 3GS, Wall Street Journal technology columnist Walt Mossberg wrote in a review today. Sound is "much better on both ends" of a call, according to David Pogue in the New York Times.
Mossberg called the phone a "major leap" over "its already excellent predecessor." Apple's fourth-generation phone goes on sale tomorrow at the same cost as the iPhone 3GS. The 16GB model sells for $199 and the 32GB model for $299, each with a two-year contract from AT&T Inc.
Apple, based in Cupertino, California, has received more than 600,000 preorders for the phone. Dallas-based AT&T, the exclusive US carrier for the iPhone, said June 15 that it has booked 10 times as many preorders for the new model as it did for the 3GS last year.
USA Today technology columnist Edward C Baig said the smartphone is "the one to beat, even as it faces fierce competition from phones based on Google's Android platform." Mossberg praised the video calling and long-lasting battery, writing that "even in heavy use, the iPhone 4's battery never reached the red zone on a single day of my tests."
Fewer dropped calls
Pogue wrote "the new phone is also better at choosing the best channel for connecting with the cell tower," leading to fewer dropped calls in New York and San Francisco.
Baig, Mossberg and Pogue all presented the phone's drawbacks. The biggest is "Apple needs a second network," Mossberg said.
Apple also has allowed only certain applications to "fully multitask" to avoid "a disastrous drain on battery life," Mossberg wrote. There are more than 225,000 applications that run on the iPhone, according to an Apple statement.
"The technically inclined may find greater flexibility and choice among its Android rivals," Pogue wrote. Baig added that "critics are left with reasons to whine."
The iPhone 4 "is still, overall, the best in its class," Mossberg wrote.
Apple fell $2.88 to $270.97 at 4:30 p.m. time in Nasdaq Stock Market trading. The shares have climbed 29 per cent this year and have more than doubled in the past year.

If your iPhone alarm is not working, you're not alone. The feature has been giving many iPhone owners trouble lately. The issue appears to be something that will resolve itself on Monday, January 3rd, 2011 (tomorrow), but in the meantime a temporary fix exists.
Apple iPhone 4 Black Smartphone 16GBIt's likely that many individuals received the Apple iPhone (pictured via Amazon.com) as a gift for the holidays and used it to bring in the New Year 2011. Now they are experiencing some early troubles, but just with the one feature. The tech-savvy website Gizmodo has provided the fix for owners of the Apple iPhone. All that needs to be done to get the alarm feature working again, is a few simple taps on the touch device to set up various settings.
So how's the Apple iPhone alarm issue fixed? Tap the clock first and then tap the + symbol. Set your alarm for the desired time, and tap "Repeat." Set the repeat interval and tap "Save." That's all there is to it!
The website 9 to 5 Mac reports that they ran some of their own tests on the Apple iPhone alarm not working and discovered it resolves itself on Monday, January 3, 2011. That's good news because many iPhone owners will be on time for work, and won't get fired over an issue from Steve Jobs and Apple!

Apple iPhone 4
Saturday, June 26, 2010When you consider that the iPhone 4 is also the thinnest smart phone on the market and it offers a considerably beefier battery than the iPhone 3GS, it’s hard to find fault with this sequel. Or is it? Monster-size competitors like the Evo 4G and Droid X are breathing down Apple’s neck, and one can’t ignore AT&T’s overtaxed network. Despite some flaws, the iPhone 4 does enough to stay slightly ahead of the superphone pack.
Design
Not only is the iPhone 4 a vast departure from the 3GS’ bulbous plastic backside, it’s also the antithesis of the big Android slabs that have suddenly become all the rage. In fact, the two-tone black-and-silver design looks like a very slim and elegant pocket camera. And we mean slim. At 0.37 inches, no other smart phone on the market has a sleeker profile. The iPhone 4 is also thinner and narrower than the 3GS, though both devices weigh the same 4.8 ounces. While devices like the HTC Evo 4G and Motorola Droid X have sturdy and functional industrial designs, we wouldn’t call them sexy. The iPhone 4, by contrast, screams luxury; between the chemically hardened glass and little touches like how the light reflects off the ridges of the stainless steel band, this device looks and feels more expensive than its price tag intimates.
This silver band, which Apple claims is forged to be five time stronger than standard steel, wraps around the whole phone. On top you’ll find the power button, 3.5mm headphone jack, and one of two microphones (used for FaceTime calls and suppressing noise). The second mic (for voice calls, memos, and voice commands) is on the bottom along with the speaker and dock connector. A ringer switch and two circular volume controls line the left side, and the hole to access the micro-SIM Card is on the right. The black chassis (white coming soon) has a glossy but classy look and houses the 5-megapixel camera and LED flash.
Too bad Apple didn’t see fit to include a dedicated camera button for launching the app and taking photos. You can’t even program a shortcut for double tapping the Home button, as that’s now reserved for multitasking/switching apps. You also won’t find an HDMI port, which would make it much easier to share the HD footage you record with the iPhone 4’s camera on a big-screen TV. (Here’s hoping Apple or someone else launches an HDMI dock.)
Retina Display
While other smart phone makers are touting larger displays that display more information at once or Super AMOLED technology that’s tailor-made for outdoor readability, Apple went a different direction with the iPhone 4. Its Retina display (so named because the company claims that consumers can’t distinguish individual pixels) emphasizes clarity and pixels per inch. In fact, this handset’s 960 x 640-pixel, 326 dpi screen doubles that of the iPhone 3GS. While the Droid X’s display is nearly an inch larger (4.3 inches), it has a lower resolution of 854 x 480 pixels. The end result is that text reads as if you were out of a magazine, an effect enhanced by the fact that everything from photos to webpages appear as if they’re painted on top of the display. IPS technology (found on the iPad) delivers superb viewing angles, putting the 3GS and most other smart phones to shame.
Now, the effect isn’t exactly mind-blowing, but we could definitely notice the difference when we had the same New York Times page and weather widget displayed on the iPhone 4 and its predecessor. Text was much sharper, and we could make out more detail in the two same Flickr photos of the Eiffel Tower.
App developers have already started to write or re-write applications for the iPhone 4’s Retina display, including Twitter and EA Sports’ NCAA Football (even the logos seem to jump off the screen). Having said all that, there are some benefits to a larger-screen device. For example, we were able to make out more text on The New York Times homepage on the 4.3-inch Evo 4G without needing to zoom in, and watching movies and TV shows is a more immersive experience (despite the narrower viewing angles).
Apple’s latest smart phone raises the bar for displays, camera quality, and two-way video chat in a remarkably slim and sexy design. (http://www.laptopmag.com)
