The 2010 FIFA World Cup Finals in South Africa
Monday, April 12, 2010No, I'm not referring to the Dallas Cowboys nor the NFL. I'm talking about REAL football, also known as soccer to us Americans.
It only comes around once every 4 years, and this is the year for the 2010 FIFA World Cup Finals in South Africa! The World Cup is watched by over 26 BILLION viewers worldwide, and the final game with the coveted gold trophy is watched by over 700 million spectators alone. The opening concert is June 10, 2010, opening matches begin on June 11th with the World Cup Final game on July 11, 2010. South Africa is the host country for 2010, and the matches are being played in 10 venues in 9 host locations throughout the country. The opening and closing ceremonies will be hosted at Soccer City Stadium in Johannesburg.
There will be two matches on the opening day. In Johannesburg, South Africa will play Mexico. In Cape Town, Uruguay will play France. One of the "must see" matches is on 12-June when Team USA plays England in Rustenburg. Italy will play their first game in Cape Town on 14-June against Paraguay, and Brazil will play their first game in Johannesburg on 15-June against Korea.
I have personally attended a World Cup match (Brazil v Holland), and I can attest that I've not attended any other sporting event that comes close to the excitement and adrenaline rush that comes with attending one or more of these matches. In my opinion, attending a World Cup match is a "must do", if only once, in one's lifetime! You will never experience another event like it!
So put on your favorite team's jersey, proudly wave your flag, and get prepared for the ultimate football season. Here's a link to give you some information, history, and ticket info for this year's greatest soccer match...it's time to get ready for some football!

World Cup 2010 - My Predictions! By Tony Cook
" World Cup 2010 - My Predictions "
Now Don't get angry...this is just for fun! But please feel free to leave your comments!
Before we start...I am English and will be supporting England in the 2010 World Cup. i just don't think we are good enough to get past the 2nd Round! I hope we do..but things are not looking good in the England camp. we qualified well..in a weak group..but to be honest..Rooney aside..i don't see any genuine World Class players in our squad...time will tell.
Here we go then...enjoy!
My World Cup Prediction Planner
Every 4 years the greatest soccer tournament on Earth saturates the summer months of June and July and this year it will possibly be the most colourful and greatest World Cup in memory.
The continent of Africa hosts this fabulous tournament for the first time and South Africa are the hosts of this truly mouth watering spectacle.
All the big guns are at the tournament and it promises to be a sensational 4 weeks of non stop soccer.
I have decided to put together my predictions for the tournament and hope they help you in some way towards enjoying the games.
So off we go!
Group A- Mexico South Africa Uruguay France.
Big shocks in this group as Mexico win the group with South Africa as runners up. France are too old and just not clicking as a team. Uruguay have no strength in depth. Mexico are fresh and a young team..with plenty of talent. They could do well in this World Cup.
Group B-Argentina Nigeria South Korea Greece
Physically a tough group...Argentina to win this one..Nigeria will be runners up. I think the Korean's will struggle and the Greeks have shown little form in the last 4 years.
Group C- England USA Algeria Slovenia
England have to win this group, USA are a good team and will play to their strengths. The others have little in the way of causing these two many problems.
Group D- Germany Ghana Australia Serbia.
Another tough group. Germany should have the goods to win this group though. Ghana will be in good form as well. Australia could be a surprise. But i will say Germany & Ghana in that order.
Group E - Netherlands Cameroon Denmark Japan.
The Dutch are are a very strong team and will have huge support in SA. Cameroon again a colourful team will many good players..and with Samuel Eto up front anything is possible. The Danes and Japan won't get anything out of these two.
Group F- Italy Paraguay New Zealand Slovakia
Italy all the way..they should pick up 7 points at least in this group..and Paraguay will be with them as well.
Group G- Brazil Ivory Coast Portugal North Korea
Brazil and Ivory Coast will give us a great match...Portugal are all over the place with only Ronaldo to look to. North Korea will get the wooden spoon in this group. I feel Brazil & Ivory Coast will both beat Portugal comfortably as well.
Group E- Spain Chile Honduras Switzerland.
Spain should get maximum points here..with Chile making the second place. Possibly the easiest group Spain could have wished for.
And so on to round 2!
Game 1
Mexico v Nigeria MEXICO TO WIN technically superb..young attacking team will win this in 90mins.
Game 3
England v Ghana GHANA TO WIN I think the Ghanaians will want this too much to let it slip. Extra time possibly...it will be close though.
Game 4
Germany v USA GERMANY TO WIN Once Germany start to hit their stride..they take some stopping. USA just won't be strong enough. 90 minutes.
Game 2
Argentina v South Africa ARGENTINA TO WIN playing the home nation is never easy. But Argentina have Lionel Messi...and South Africa don't! 90 minutes.
Game 5
Holland v Paraguay HOLLAND TO WIN. The Dutch won't even break a sweat in this one. Easy win for them. 90 minutes.
Game 6
Italy v Cameroon ITALY TO WIN. Italy are always slow starters, but should have way too much for the Africans this time. 90 minutes.
Game 7
Brazil v Chile BRAZIL TO WIN. There is just no way Chile will be able to live with Brazil. 90 minutes.
Game 8
Spain v Ivory Coast SPAIN TO WIN EXTRA TIME. This match will be sensational..a true classic. But put your money on Spain..they are just too good!
Quarter Finals
Mexico v Ghana MEXICO TO WIN. These fellas are technically too good for Ghana and they win in 90 minutes.
Holland v Brazil HOLLAND TO WIN IN EXTRA TIME. Again a classic..but the Dutch will have the edge and defence for this game.
Argentina v Germany ARGENTINA TO WIN IN 90 MINS. The Argies will have too much class for the Germans...and Lionel Messi!
Italy v Spain. SPAIN WILL WIN THIS IN EXTRA TIME. These games are always close. But the World Champions will run out of steam against the Spanish.
SEMI FINALS
MEXICO V HOLLAND...Going for the Orange on this one. Holland will be feeling like the World Cup is in Amsterdam. They will win a close encounter!
ARGENTINA V SPAIN...Amazing players adorn the pitch..but Spain will triumph. Argentina have great players..but Spain play great!
WORLD CUP 2010 FINAL
SPAIN V HOLLAND...a superb match played in great spirit..and Spain will just edge the Dutch in a classic final. IT'S SAD FOR FOR THE DUTCH..THEIR THIRD FINAL..BUT STILL NO TROPHY...but you never know in Football.!
As I say...these are just my rumblings..let me know what you think below!

Tuesday, March 2, 2010World Cup Group E Predictions
Group E World Cup Odds:
Netherlands (1.57)
Cameroon (5.50)
Denmark (4.75)
Japan (11.00)
World Cup 2010 Group E Predictions:
Group E Order of Finishing Predictions:
1 - Denmark
2 - Netherlands
3 - Cameroon
4 - Japan
We are predicting that Denmark will come out on top of Group E, which will be a pretty big statement if they can pull it off. Denmark looked very good winning their qualifying group over Portugal, Hungary, and Sweden. Morten Olsen is capable of leading this team to success and I think they will come out on top of this Group E. Netherlands may be the best team in Group E, and will make it on to the knockout round. The Dutch shouldn't have too much trouble with Japan (who they beat 3-0 in a recent friendly), and should get past a tough Cameroon squad playing on their home continent. Cameroon will play hard, and give both Denmark and Netherlands a hard time, but I don't see them advancing.
World Cup Group F Predictions
The four teams that will be playing in Group F in World Cup 2010 are Italy, Paraguay, Slovakia, and New Zealand. Below you will find the odds on each team advancing out of Group F into the knockout round, and our predictions on who will advance.
Group F World Cup Odds:
Italy (1.30)
Paraguay (4.50)
Slovakia (11.00)
New Zealand (51.00)
Did you know that you can bet on who will advance from Group F of the World Cup at Bodog.com?
World Cup 2010 Group F Predictions:
Group F Order of Finishing Predictions:
1 - Italy
2 - Paraguay
3 - Slovakia
4 - New Zealand
Nothing out of the ordinary here with our Group F predictions. Italy should have no troubles finishing first in this World Cup Group F and advancing to the round of 16. Marcello Lippi will have his team ready to compete, and should be solid on defense like always. Paraguay should be the other team advancing on past round one in this group. Although they don't have the most experience, they do have a talented squad that should be able to beat Slovakia and New Zealand to advance. Slovakia will play tough, with Martin Skrtel and Marek Hamsik leading the way for them, but they won't have enough to qualify out of the first round. New Zealand will show up to play, but don't expect much more from them
World Cup Group G Predictions
Group G World Cup Odds:
Brazil (1.45)
Ivory Coast (5.00)
Portugal (4.50)
North Korea (101.00)
Did you know that you can bet on who will advance from Group G of the World Cup at Bodog.com?
World Cup 2010 Group G Predictions:
Group G Order of Finishing Predictions:
1 - Brazil
2 - Portugal
3 - Ivory Coast
4 - North Korea
Group G - The Group of Death. This is the toughest draw that the Brazilians could have gotten, with both Portugal and Ivory Coast being tough competition. Coach Dunga will have his squad, including star players Kaka and Fabiano, well prepared for these teams and should be able to come out of Group G on top. Things will get very interesting between Portugal and Ivory Coast as they both have legitimate shots at advancing onto the knockout rounds. Portugal has one of the better squads in the tournament, but have been struggling as of late. The Africans have some top players themselves with the likes of Kolo Toure, Emmanuel Eboue and Didier Drogba. Cristiano Ronaldo has been having injury problems but will come into the World Cup healthy and ready to play. Portugal gets a big win over Ivory Coast and advances on, while the African team goes home.
World Cup Group H Predictions
Group H World Cup Odds:
Spain (1.25)
Chile (5.75)
Switzerland (10.00)
Honduras (21.00)
Did you know that you can bet on who will advance from Group H of the World Cup at Bodog.com?
World Cup 2010 Group H Predictions:
Group H Order of Finishing Predictions:
1 - Spain
2 - Chile
3 - Switzerland
4 - Honduras
Spain will make it on to the next round; No real prediction needed for that. Spain avoided a difficult draw, and are favorites to win World Cup 2010. They are an extremely talented team with star players such as Xavi, Carles Puyol, Fernando Torres, and Iker Casillas, that will have no difficulties advancing to the knockout rounds. The next three teams will likely be battling it out for second in Group H. Although Honduras, in their second World Cup appearance ever, have proved to be a solid team, I don't think they will be able to pull out any upsets. This will leave the game between Chile and Switzerland to likely be the deciding factor on who will advance. I like the talent of Chile's lineup, including Matias Fernadez and Mark Gonzalez, and have them coming out ahead of Switzerland.

World Cup 2010 Champions Predictions:
Our World Cup Champion Prediction - Brazil (6.00 odds) - South America has great history on African soil. Look at their roster with Fabiano, Alves, Kaka, Cesar, and the list goes on. A $50 bet on Brazil to win the World Cup pays out $300.
Don't Overlook - England (6.50 odds) - Soft group with Slovenia and Algeria, and the USA have only beaten England twice. A $50 bet on England to win pays out $325.
Longshot Prediction - USA (51.00 odds) - This is my underdog prediction to win World Cup 2010. In a group with Algeria and Slovenia they should advance with no problems, and could pull out some upsets later in the tournament. A $50 bet on the US to win pays out $2550.
World Cup 2010 is the 19th FIFA World Cup, and will be taking place in South Africa. The World Cup tournament will run from June 11th, 2010 through to the finals on July 11th 2010.
It is best to get your World Cup bets in early at one of the World Cup betting sites we have listed because the odds are usually lowered closer to the tournament.
