Mourinho: I want to stop Barça domination (PA) Saturday 2 October 2010

Saturday, October 2, 2010

Jose Mourinho believes he is the man to end Barcelona's domination of Spanish football, but has again warned Real Madrid's demanding fans he is not Harry Potter. The 47-year-old, who dubbed himself the 'special one' when he became Chelsea manager, took over at the Bernabeu this summer with the task of turning them back into Europe's top team.

Mourinho told Football Focus: "The supporters demand a lot, the press demand a lot. I work hard so I can do things. They think the coach is Harry Potter. I'm not Harry Potter."

"Success for me would be in the four years of my contract to make the tenth Champions League for the club and stop the Barça domination. I think I can find a way to stop them in our matches, but the problem is that the championship is not about two matches, it's about 38."

Asked if Real were the biggest club in the world, he said: "I think so, amazing club, you feel it in every moment. I used to say when we arrive in any airport in the world, or even in Spain, it looks like the Beatles arriving in San Francisco in the '60s."

Mourinho would relish facing Chelsea in the final of the Champions League. "I would sign now," he stated. "Being in the final playing against Chelsea - or playing against Timbuktu Football Club - I would sign now."

"I keep an eye [on Chelsea] all the time, I've lots of friends there and that never changed. I've a great relationship with the club. Carlo [Ancelotti] is a great man, I also have a very good relationship with him. Chelsea has everything I like."

Mourinho also lauded former Manchester United stand-out Cristiano Ronaldo, who he now has at his disposal at Real. "Incredible potential," the former Porto coach said of the 25-year-old.

"Another one that has to feel the pressure, has to feel expectation because everyone thinks Ronaldo can dribble (past) ten players and score goals and make the difference every game. This is not easy pressure to cope with.

"Potential incredible, desire and commitment and professionalism top. Every word Sir Alex [Ferguson] told me about him is completely true - the boy is fantastic."fifa.com
